Crowns & Bridges
Crowns
When a tooth is broken or has a very large filling and is too weak to function on its own, a crown is used to cover the damaged tooth.
We may recommend a crown to:
- protect a tooth that is very weak and at risk of fracturing
- cover a dental implant
- cover a severely discoloured or misshapen tooth
- cover a tooth that has undergone a root canal treatment
- protect a tooth that is needed to support a denture
Crowns can be made from many materials including gold, metal and acrylic, but most often are porcelain alone or combined with metal and can be made to match your natural teeth.
Bridges
A bridge enables us to replace missing teeth without the use of a denture or a dental implant. In such cases, the teeth beside the space are used as anchors to support the replacement tooth.
